If you're looking for a new and time efficient workout to improve your cardiovascular system, then this post is for you!
I wanted to mix up my heart health/ cardio session this week by using low reps and short rest intervals instead of steady state cardio ... I also took advantage of the cold weather to make sure the rest periods were in fact short :)
I’m a firm believer that consistency is the most important variable in achieving and maintaining long term health and fitness. Bellow are some of the tactics I personally use to make sure my workouts keep interesting and ultimately stay consistent.
-Try new types of exercises/workouts/exercise equipment
-Use micro workouts during busier times
-Change up the rep ranges, rest intervals, and even environments and weather conditions.
I love Db complex’s for achieving nearly all of the above, give it a try, all you need is one set of dumbbells! This routine is especially useful during periods of travel as most hotel gyms have sets of dumbbells.
I did the following with just 2 reps each exercise, but it depends on the weights you select. 5 reps each with a lighter weight will also do the trick!
Reverse lunges
RDL
High pulls (or bent over rows)
Squats
Overhead press
Bent over rows
Hammer curls
5 sets 60 seconds rest
