Hi guys! If your looking for a tasty and gluten free carb alternative to bread, then this post is for you!
Welcome to our kitchen and our first nutrition video showing how to make cassava bread. This is one of my favourite carb sources, I personally have it as part of my breakfast quite often. Although Cassava is quite calorically dense (twice as many calories as potatoes) it is sugar free, gluten free and is a great source of potassium and vitamin C. It is also a great source of resistance starch which is now linked to improving gut health.
Recipe Steps
1- Place Cassava in Water, make sure it is pealed and washed (The skin is toxic). You can use an InstaPot or bill them in a pot like you would potatoes, add teaspoon of salt
2- Once cooked, remove the stems
3- Add butter and/or cheese to suit your liking (or coconut oil if vegan)
4- Mash/ mix everything together
5- Make the mixture into balls or buns and place on pan or baking sheet
6- Cook for approximately 30 minutes at 375 degrees or until slightly brown
The batch size we made lasts about a week for us in the fridge.
